While the month of October 2020 lasted, Reynolds and Marvel Studios were holding meetings with potential writers for the next Deadpool movie. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin were hired to write a screenplay the following month. Reynolds and Marvel Studios felt that what these writers presented was in line with what they expected from their film, which would be PG-rated. For this film, Reynolds and Marvel Studios were okay if Leitch would be back but it is unlikely because of other commitments throughout 2021 as he did not take part in hiring these writers.Leitch later confirmed that he had met with Marvel for the film, but both parties understood that scheduling and other commitments would prevent him from returning. Feige reiterated in January 2021 that this film will be R-rated and within the MCU continuity.
